Mercy Water Supply corporation is located outside the city limits of Cleveland, Texas in San Jacinto County. Mr Homer Brown and Mr. A.J. Meekins saw the need for community water and worked diligently on this project. Application for membership began back in 1982, but the actual wells and service did not begin until 1985. The office operated out of the home of Carl Shirley in Campbell Acres until the office was built sometime in 1987, at 51 Perry Lane, Cleveland, Texas. The drilling of the wells was financed by Rural Development. Mercy Water Supply at this time had a total of three (3) wells, Well 1 at 51 Perry Lane. Well 2 at 40 Merrell Lane and Well 3 at 3281 Dabney Bottom Road, Cleveland, Texas. We have a total of seven (7) Board of Directors that oversee the operation of the business. Directors are elected at the annual meeting by membership this meeting occurs in March.
During the two hurricanes we managed to keep the water flowing. We have three diesel generators that automatically kick-in when the electricity is out.
Due to our growth, we drilled Well 4 at 3350 F.M. 1725, Willis, Texas. Well 4 will be on line in 2016. Regardless of the situation, we are steadily growing and the need for water is ever present.
Mercy Water Supply strives daily to bring you fresh, clean, and safe water to your meter.
